== UNDERAGE ==
Underage characters are under draftable age. This means 18 for girls and 20 for boys. They MUST age up in real time. They will not be drafted until the appropriate age.
- They must grow up with the board. That means if you make a 16 year old, you must wait until they are 18 (or 20) to be drafted. There is no skipping years to make them draftable.
- Interactions are limited. Girls over the age of 11 are in boarding school (prior to 2190, all girls six and up went to boarding school and that is all your playable characters will have known), and boys are home. Although the chips do offer a bit more freedom than the sensor bracelets, underaged characters are watched more closely.
- The youngest character you can make is 16. The oldest underage character is 17 for girls and 19 for boys. They must be at least six months out from their draftable age.
That said, you can still play interactions within the various school buildings and sponsorships for the boys when they turn 18. There is also family interaction and meeting with friends during holidays and weekends.
Women can become undraftable in two ways:
- She is widowed after the age of 40
- She is widowed after giving birth to a living child (stillbirth does not count)
What happens when a woman is declared undraftable?
- Undraftable females are moved into an apartment with other undraftables as neighbors.
- Undraftable women trade in their vehicle for either a convertible or a sedan of their choice.
To ensure that there are no "accidents", if you haven't already been sterilized, you will be within a month of your status change. This is to make sure that you have enough time to heal before beginning your new sponsoring gig.
Because you can't be married anymore, you must work. Everyone must do their part to support the Trust. They may sponsor full-time, sponsor part-time and hold a second job, or work as live-in mistresses (live-ins don't sponsor or work at any other jobs)
Widows are required to spend at least one day a week sponsoring young men. You won't spend the entire day doing this, but you must have at least two appointments. You can, of course, open your schedule up for more days, but you must have at least one day a week that has at least two appointments. The Trust expects you to work five days a week, so if you are only sponsoring one day, then you have to fill the other four with some other sort of job.
A widow gets six months to mourn before beginning to sponsor. They must work at some other job until they do so. You are still required to work five days a week.
A widow is encouraged to retire from sponsoring at the age of 50. This is more like a guideline than a mandate, but most will because it's how things have always been done and because their pool of clients decreases sharply as she gets older.
The Trust will place you in a position based on your school performance. This is to fill the days remaining that you are not sponsoring.
- Certified Nurse-Midwife
Women who showed aptitude in health, pregnancy and birth classes will be assigned to this field. It requires training and certification In this position, you will deliver babies and give yearly exams and general medical advice. They also oversee interaction between female patients and doctors if her services aren't needed at the time. Medical emergencies still require a doctor.
If given this job, you will spend a year training (still sponsoring once a week) and a second year in hands on training with another midwife (still sponsoring once a week). Take the test, and you are certified.
This job can cancel sponsor appointments for emergency medical situations with their patients.
- Doctor's Assistant
Female patients require a chaperone, and widows fill this role nicely. Women that show a strict adherence to the laws are selected for this type of job.
- Teacher's Assistant
Salons always need workers, and widows that showed promise in cosmetology in school will be given these positions. You spend an extra year in training (sponsoring two days a week and having class the other three). Your exact job will depend on the need of the salon you are being hired at.
Childcare classes prepare women for this role. Widows who had children are also considered for this position. You are responsible for caring for the children and preparing meals for the father (if requested). You are not required to sleep with the father...that's the live-in mistress job.
Those that like to cook, clean and do basic home care end up as maids. You can work for a single household as extra help or be assigned to a man who lacks a wife. Generally you are expected to clean at least two homes per day.
Excellence in voice, grace, grammar, etiquette and reading skills will earn you a coveted actress position. There is a considerable amount of travel, and you must still fulfill your sponsorship duties at home. This requires long hours and constant back and forth.
Women are allowed to be musicians, but remember that pop music is much tamer under the Trust than it would be in 2016. Most women are backup singers, in girl groups or are solo acts (think Adele or Celine Dion), but every now and then you'll find one as a backing musician for a male-fronted band. The requirements to be a musician are the same as the requirements to be an actress.
Fashion, grace and style will earn you a model career. Runway shows, magazines, clothing catalogs and in some cases, TV ads.
Those skilled at organization, problem solving and grammar are often assigned as receptionists and secretaries. Wives can also hold this position, so it's not uncommon for one job to be held by two women.
- Hostess/Waitress/Retail Associate
Widows who weren't all that good in school are relegated to these positions.
- Exercise Instructor
If you like exercise and nutrition, you'll be assigned to this field. They run various women only classes at the gym and might even have their own videos.
- Fashion Consultants
Great skill in dress and style and sewing will land you with fashion design. You help bring new and designer looks to the general population.
What do they get to wear?
Undraftable women may wear anything they choose, provided their clothes are clean and meet the Trust's decency standards. Undraftable women must, however, adhere to the dress codes at whatever job outside sponsoring they work at. What they wear in the privacy of their apartments is up to them.
How much do widows earn? Do they earn income?
When widowed, you will receive a new bank account with $1000 from the husband's money in it. After that, they earn $500 a month. She can keep whatever personal items she might have had from her marriage, including all jewelry, clothing and other important articles. She is moved into the widow complex.
Does a widow find her own employment or is it assigned?
If you don't sponsor full time, the Trust will find work for you.
Can a widow be fired? Quit her job?
Either the boss or the widow can ask for a transfer. There will rarely be a period that a widow is without a position.
Do they get to retire from working?
If you can't physically do your job, then you will be retired. Sponsors and Mistresses are encouraged to retire from sponsoring at age 50. Once you are no longer sponsoring, you can work full time at whatever other job you might have.
What do widows do after retirement?
Once you're retired, ENJOY it. Although you lose your income and car, you get to keep whatever money is in your bank account, and the retirement facilities are clean, peaceful and entertaining.
Of course, you can go live with your children, but there's no extra money to help them with the cost.
What happens to their money when they die?
If anything is left after funeral costs, it goes to her closest male relative. If they are all dead, and she has no children, then the Trust takes it.
