Double standards are alive and well in the 2190's. At the age of 18, all men are given one year to experience a sexual relationship with a government approved sponsor. This is so they can experiment and learn what they like, don't like and really don't like. Sponsors must file reports at the end of each session, and this information is given to the future bride.
When does it happen?
18. It cannot be put off or disregarded. If you haven't made an appointment within six months of your 18th birthday, one is made for you. Consequences will result if you don't attend your state mandated sex lessons.
How often can they go?
Between the ages of 18 and 19, as often as they want. Just remember they are in school as well, so it's not an all day/every day thing.
What is the minimum they have to go?
At least once. Ideally they should go often enough that the sponsors and future wife have enough information on them. The more they go, the better the info will be. To keep up appearances, once a month is the bare minimum. Going any less than that might attract unwanted attention.
How does it work?
The man calls a hotline to be set up with a sponsor. If he likes her, then he can set up appointments through her directly. If he wants more variety, he can call the hotline for a new sponsor. He is allowed to request a certain sponsor via referral from his friends. First appointments must always be set up through the hotline.
Sponsors live in special apartments. They have the most freedom of any citizens, and can come and go as they please, as long as they send in their reports. They must still observe the law of the land, and are generally expected to fulfill sponsoring sessions in their apartment. They can fulfill the session elsewhere, as long as they obey applicable laws.
Sponsor appointments are in two hour blocks. This should be enough time for them to get started, finish, clean up and allow the sponsor time to write her report and get ready for her next appointment. An average session lasts about 45 minutes, and a smart sponsor will have appointments out the door so she can do what she needs to do.
What happens when the year is up?
When the young man turns 19, the hotline is closed to him. If the young man remains undrafted and saved his contacts, then he can see his previous sponsors on a limited schedule. Men are allowed two sessions per week after they turn 19. If they use them back to back, they they just have to wait another week. This can continue until they are drafted.
